Information for parents

What is Clearing?

Clearing is an excellent way for your child to find and apply for alternative undergraduate degree courses at Glasgow Caledonian University.

If your child does not receive the grades they need to get into their first or insurance university choices, Clearing will allow them to view the remaining university vacancies across the UK – and apply for the courses that appeal to them most.

Why consider Clearing?

Learning more about Clearing ahead of exam results day can help to reduce stress and worry for your child, by letting them know there are always options available to them.

Your child’s experience at GCU will be no different from those who didn’t use Clearing to enter their studies here. This is a community where everyone works together to deliver excellence in learning and an outstanding student experience.

How does Clearing work?

As well as using the search tool on the UCAS website to find Clearing vacancies, your child can call us on our Clearing helpline: 0800 027 9171.

We have patient, friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand to answer any questions, talk through degree course options and support your child with their application.
